Steps To Layer Your Skincare Products

These step by step method will help you layer your facial Skincare Products accordingly to get their optimal benefits for each product.

1. Makeup Remover: At the end of the day, if you have makeup on, it is imperative to start your skin care regimen by first removing your makeup. You can do a two-step makeup removal. First, you can go in with micellar water which can remove 80% of your makeup, and after that, you can go in with your everyday makeup remover to thoroughly remove every trace of makeup and oil from your skin. I swear by my Neutrogena makeup remover (it is a fantastic product.) This two-step makeup removal is derived from the Korean Skincare routine.

2. Cleanser: Use a cleanser designed for your skin type. If you have dry skin, opt for cleansing milk, cleansing oils; if you have oily skin, choose foaming cleanser.

3. Exfoliate: Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells and dirt from the outer layer of your skin revealing glowing, beautiful skin. You can opt for chemical exfoliating products which use ingredients such as AHA’s and BHA, and enzymes such as pumpkin extract, pineapple extract, and papaya extract, or you can use physical exfoliants such as sugar scrubs, or exfoliating sponge.

4. Toner: Use a facial toner specific to your skin type. Using a facial toner will help restore your skin’s pH which can alter after you use a facial cleanser. Plus a facial toner will help add a needed layer of protection, shrink your pores, refresh your skin, and add a boost of hydration.

5. Essence: This is a more concentrated formula that targets wrinkles, dull skin, and uneven skin tone explicitly. Instead of using a cotton ball, apply the essence directly onto the skin. Its hydrating effect will prime your skin to better absorb the rest of your skincare products.

6. Serum: A face serum is a skincare product that is light in consistency. It is usually packed with active ingredients that penetrate deep into the skin when you apply it to your face.  Face serums contain higher performance ingredients compared to facial moisturizers. These ingredients are formulated mostly to target various skin conditions such as skin aging, large pores, acne, and dark spots.

7. Eye Cream: Eye creams are not always necessary, but if you suffer from puffy under eyes, dark circles, or wrinkles using an eye cream will help to combat those pesky issues.

8. Moisturizer: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize; give your skin tender loving care. Opt for the best face moisturizer tailored to your skin type.

9. Sleeping Mask (Nighttime routine): Overnight masks are designed to be used once or twice a week. Most masks are loaded with sweet ingredients such as essential oils, peptides, hyaluronic acids, ceramides, herbal extracts. Look for masks that are formulated to cater to your specific skin needs. Your skin will thank you.

10. SPF: Never skip sunscreen. Whether you can see the sun or not, you should apply sunscreen before going out. This rule also applies at nighttime.
